How to prepare a hair sample for sending
Cut a small ‘lock’ of hair from somewhere discrete on your head, and please if possible include with this hair, a few strands of ‘pulled hair’ – pulled out by the roots!
If you have very short hair or no hair on your head, take hair from your chest or under your arms.
Next, please make sure you don’t accidentally get anything else in with your hair sample. Do not use hair from hairbrushes as these are often shared.
Please wrap your hair sample in plain paper, tissue paper, an envelope or a small paper bag.
We recommend you avoid using aluminium foil as a wrapper, because for many of us aluminium is already a toxic metal, and if you personally have a problem with aluminium toxicity (which you may not realise), it could influence your results. Cling film is also not ideal but better than foil.
